Associate Professor
School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Sydney
Before coming to Sydney, I completed my PhD in 2011 at the University of Toronto, and worked in post-doctoral positions at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, the Fields Institute in Toronto, the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in Berkeley, and the Australian National University in Canberra.
A quantum topologist by training, I am interested in the intersections of knot theory, quantum algebra, diagrammatics, categorification, and combinatorics.
Recent and ongoing projects include:
topological approaches to the Kashiwara-Vergne conjecture
virtual knot invariants from graph cuts and flows
an operadic perspective on welded and virtual tangles
Students looking for an Honours, Master’s or PhD project: please send me an email, introduce yourself, and we’ll set up a time to talk.
